PAX was my placement organization when i was hosted in Seattle during my exchange year 2019-20. PAX made my exchange year so much better! My local coordinators organised atleast 2 events every month with the entire exchange student group of the area to experience american culture. I made some of the best friends around the world through pax. Our coordinators were always there to help us with any challenges that we faced during our year. And talking about my exchange year, it was the BEST TIME of my life. Meeting people around the world, being a part of a new family, learning about different cultures and sharing my own culture, ahh i miss it all so much! I loved my PAX cluster students❤️

We were host parents for a student. We had to do all the state department paperwork to get her here, and I had to call a foreign county on my own dime to coordinate with her parents. Fortunately, I speak that language. Pax did nothing. She was supposed to spend time each month with students from other countries but we weren’t told this. After four months I was ready to send her home. We were also told she would fit our family and our lifestyles, etc. She was the exact opposite of everything we stand for. Pax is a scam, in my opinion. They will gladly take your money but you may never hear from them. I had trouble even learning the student’s contact with Pax so I could help her get the attention she deserved. In the end it was a horrible experience for our student and our family. I would try it again with a different company but my family done with the idea forever. Pax ruins things.

Experience with PAX 0/10!
I did not have a great experience with this organization at all. I had no one from this organization that I could trust, since even my coordinator told everything her boss who would in turn tell my host mother. And even when they tried to “help” me in certain situations (like finding friends), they would respond with forcing me to invite a random person over before a certain deadline. (And when I was not able to do that they punished me bz sending me a guidance letter)

My family has been hosting with PAX since 2013. Every student we've hosted has been a brand new experience. The key to any successful exchange is honest communication and flexibility. I have found both in PAX. I am so grateful that my three children have grown up knowing that they now have brothers and sisters across the globe. Friends of my kids are now exposed to new traditions, holidays and have learned new culture. I am so very grateful that my kids and our community have a broader perspective of our world! The world becomes just a little bit smaller with every student we host! I love it!

PAX is an exchange organization that truly cares about the students and host families. It’s an educational program that teaches students to effectively communicate. It’s not the type of organization that just “moves the student” when a problem is brought to them. The coordinator sits down with the family and student to learn more and help everyone work through it. This draws the students and families closer together when they resolve issues together, this is how they grow and learn. These become lifelong relationships.

I let my daughter go to the United States for a year with Pax. She went through a difficult time and was alone, with no help to deal with the situation. We are promised support during this year when our child is on her own and there has been no support from Pax. They are not there to help our children but to harass them. Do not trust this organization!

Our experience has been a horrible one and I'd recommend running the other way before hosing an exchange student through PAX. I was asked if I would host as a "welcome family" for a new student for just 4 weeks while PAX found the student a permanent family. 3.5 weeks in, PAX hadn't even begun the search. I contacted the rep who signed me up, and then also the district manager, and was basically ignored. I received a lot of “I’ll call you right back” promises, but almost never actually got called back. Finally, 4 days before the deadline I set for PAX to deliver on their assurance of a new family, they called our exchange student and told him that we were kicking him out, and that he had no family to go live with. I think putting our student in tears was an attempt to manipulate us into keeping him for longer. If you're expecting a good hosting experience, look elsewhere. My experience showed me that PAX has a work culture of dishonesty, poor service, and outright manipulation.

Have hosted several times with PAX and several times with YFU. Hands down, PAX supports their kids and families way better. We have had any questions answered immediately from getting the kid at the airport to medical issues. PAX also has a higher standard for the kids they sponsor to come to the US and are willing to put them on probation and/or send them home for misdeeds much quicker.
